Wisconsin’s largest high school video display is now homed at Muskego High’s field. Designed and manufactured by Daktronics the display measures 17 feet high by 30 feet wide. “We wanted the best and are so happy with this community project,” said Ryan McMillen, Muskego’s athletic and activities director. “We did it right and have no regrets. Alums walk in and say they’re proud to be Warriors.”
A scorer’s table joins Muskego’s fleet this fall, acting as another digital solution. With the revenue the outdoor display raised, the school opted to add the additional display inside the school. The table measures three feet high by 19 feet wide and features 6mm line spacing.
“We had some extra funding available from the outdoor display, so we ordered the table. We will have two revenue streams with our indoor and outdoor displays,” Ryan continued. “They’re aesthetically appealing, part of our curriculum and impact students’ college and career readiness. It’s about more than just sports.”
Chris Kretsch, Daktronics regional sales representative, echoed Ryan’s thoughts on the important role of media education in schools. “Video displays have become more so an educational tool rather than just a scoring solution. They are essentially an advertising medium operated by students that are able to generate hundreds of thousands of dollars. It’s exciting to be a part of as schools build new relationships within the business community.”
